The point where the high mountain climate of the Giogaia di Tessa/Texelgruppe Nature Park meets the sub-Mediterranean fauna of Val d’Aosta/Etschtal is the place to be for cycling aficionados, with a variety of forestry trails, valley tours and exciting climbs. The Val Venosta/Vinschgau cable car, which has recently been fitted with brand-new panoramic windows, will take you from Merano/Meran to Malles/Mals which is situated at 60 km from Hotel Irma. From there you can start the beautiful Val d’Aosta/Etschtal cycling route which leads past a number of the most demanding stages of the legendary Giro d’Italia cycling race, which includes the climbs up to the 2,509-meter Passo del Rombo/Timmelsjoch, the breathtaking Passo di Stelvio/Stilfserjoch and the 1,512-meter Passo delle Palade/Gampenpass.
