Take your pick from a range of relaxing hikes along soft green meadows, themed hikes or cultural visits to some of the region’s most mythical places. Hike up to romantic Alpine lakes, huts and castles, or relax in the fields while taking in the wonderful air. Spring in South Tyrol starts earlier than elsewhere thanks to the mild climate – in early February the skiers are still having fun on the pistes in the Dolomites while down in the valley near Merano/Meran conditions are already ideal for hiking in the untouched nature, on a total 200 kilometers of sign-posted trails. Late in fall, when chestnut trees and fruit gardens are at their most beautiful, the traditional “Toerggelen” evenings are popular, social gatherings where people get together to taste the young wine, eat chestnuts and spend an entertaining time.
